SHS Student Media staff members competed in the National High School Journalism Convention Nov. 2 in Chicago. More than 6,000 attended the convention and 800-plus competed from across the U.S.

Two Shortridge scholars earned awards: Anna McNeely, Excellent in Yearbook Copy/Caption Writing, and Jalynn Knight, Honorable Mention for Sports Writing. All of the 13 young journalists who competed and attended the convention represented Shortridge High School admirably. Contest fees were paid by the Urban Media Project, a program of Dani’s Dreams Innovation in Education Corp.
