Happening

By: Sidney Johnson

Good morning, all of you turkey-stuffed people. We hope you had a happening over the Thanksgiving vacation. Did you see the Rolling Stones on the Ed Sullivan show a week ago. The Stones did three songs including their smash hit “Honky Tonk Women.” The sound was bad and the girls were screaming so the Stones really did not come off well. As for the general looks of the Stones, they had not changed much except Brian Jones, former lead guitarist, was missing. As most of you know Jones drowned accidentally this last summer.

Happening’s Top Ten singles for November: “Come Together,” “Something,” The Beatles; “Wedding Bell Blues,” Fifth Dimension; “Let A Man Come In and Do the Popcorn,” James Brown; “I Can’t Get Next To You,” Temptations; “Cherry Hill Park,” Billy Joe Royal; “When I Die,” Blood, Sweat, & Tears; “Message To a Black Man” Temptations; “Walk On By,” Issac Hayes and “Na, Na, Na (Kiss Him Goodbye),” Steam.

Happening Potpourri, etc… HRC is really a good organization… hats off to our wonderful deans, Mr. Steiner and Miss King… Psychology is really slick with Mr. Hirsch… G.I.T. is the new soul slang, it means gettin’ it together… Dianne Sapersteins’ column is really nice… Christmas is coming… so is Eli… hats off to Carl Lili, Gwen Russell, Sheila Shorts, Joe Johnson for being senior class officers… ditto for Bryan Graham…

Until next week folks, have a happening and G.I.T.
